WPO workshop New York
I just spent a very enjoyable week in New York City teaching a workshop for The World Photography Organisation as part of their City Projects, our base for the teaching was The Chelsea Art Museum where I spent an afternoon explaining the Street Photographers approach and Philosophy with the help of many fine images by my colleagues around the world and especially from the members of in-public.

The World Photography Organisation Awards Exhibition was hanging on the walls of the Museum and the Photojournalist Jez Coulson was teaching in the next room which made for a great atmosphere in which to learn photography.
On the second day I traveled the length of Manhattan and spent 30 mins shooting on the streets with each participant at their chosen location. Shooting side by side enabled me to point out interesting scenes developing on the sidewalk which the students seem to find particularly useful.
I even managed to get a couple of shots myself...

On Day 3 we were joined by editors from New York publications to advise and assist the students in choosing their best images and I floated about selecting a single image from each participant to be printed for the final exhibition.

Street Photography is a very difficult approach to teach which made it particularly satisfying for me personally to see some really nice Street images being produced by the workshop group, everyone completed the three days with something special and a new understanding of this subtle genre.

in-sight film full version
21 September 2011
The full 38 min version of my in-sight film is now available to stream through the new Distrify film distribution platform.
Distrify is a pioneering way to allow independent film makers to charge a small fee per viewing of their film and represents a possible commercial model for the future. I am proud to use the in-sight film to support their initiative.
The film follows members of the in-public street photographers group shooting on the streets of New York, London, Melbourne and Rotterdam. Using miniature HD camera technology to place the viewer on the Hotshoe as they work. Each photographer talks about their motivation and approach.
Watch the trailer, pay a small fee via paypal to watch the full 38 min documentary.
Thank you for your support.
Cancer Research UK
29 August 2011
In my commissioned work I continue to focus on working with real people. In July Cancer Research UK asked me to travel around the UK to meet and photograph survivors of cancer for their annual review and an awareness poster campaign. It was humbling to meet these people in their own homes, many of whom have been fighting cancer for many years and photograph them getting on with their lives.

Format11
24 April 2011
I was invited to speak about the Inspiration of Street Photography at the Format International Photography Festival Conference in March. It was a fascinating day with speakers including Bruce Gilden, Amy Stein, Michael Wolf, John Maloof and Street Photography Now co-author Sophie Howarth.
The Festival included an exhibition of over 60 prints from the in-public group and my documentary film in-sight was shown for the first time in the gallery.
